Terms of Service

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Important: SoberBuddy is a self-help and motivation tool, not a medical or crisis service. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis or think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SoberBuddy mobile application and website (together, the "Service"), operated by SoberBuddy ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Medical disclaimer

The Service — including streak tracking, insights, daily motivation, and the AI "Buddy" companion — is provided for informational and motivational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or emergency services. Never disregard or delay seeking professional advice because of something you read or received in the Service. Withdrawal from certain substances can be dangerous; consult a qualified healthcare provider before making changes to substance use.

3. The AI Buddy companion

Buddy is an automated, AI-generated chat feature. Its responses may be inaccurate or incomplete and should not be relied upon as professional advice. Buddy is not a licensed counselor, therapist, or crisis responder. If Buddy suggests you seek help, please do.

4. Your account

5. Subscriptions & billing

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by: attempting to access other users' data; reverse-engineering or disrupting the Service; using it for unlawful purposes; or uploading harmful or abusive content.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the information you enter (such as notes, check-ins, and messages). You grant us a limited license to process this content solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, logos, and software, is owned by SoberBuddy and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will help you achieve any particular outcome.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SoberBuddy and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service and its users.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SoberBuddy operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Applicable consumer-protection laws in your place of residence may also apply.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Terms.
